It's been a year too long but GRAVEL SAMWIDGE finally return to Melbourne to play Bar Open on Thursday 1st November. GRAVEL SAMWIDGE originally earnt their chops on the late Sydney Black Eye scene playing with such legendary bands as Lubricated Goat and King Snake Roost to name a few.
GRAVEL SAMWIDGE has been described as many things ..noise, outsider rock, avant pub rock, psych. The reality is SAMWIDGE lie somewhat uncomfortably between all those labels and none of them, all at the same time! Hailing from Brisbane, nowadays SAMWIDGE has expanded/deconstructed their sound with a revolving guest of Brisbane's luminaries from such bands as Per Purpose, Sewers, Lost Domain, Kitchens Floor, Pink Mouse and Stag/Sky Needle. They're joined at this show by DEAD RIVER who are equal parts ex-Grey Daturas, Big Fun, Killerbirds, and variable parts psychedelic noise jams, sonic grunge, and anthemic 70's rock 'n' roll, featuring the awesome guitar of Bonnie Mercer. Also onboard are MIDNIGHT CALLER: a three-piece band that perform a heavy blend of grunge pop whoa re originally from Tasmania, but now reside in Melbourne. In our Humble opinion, that is Tasmania's loss! It's FREE ENTRY so there"s no reason not too come!
