THE PHANTOM AGENTS
STRAW KING EYE, THE PHILISTINES, ALEXANDER FRANCIS
Phantom Agents are a lively indie rock four piece from the northern suburbs of Melbourne. They have been together for almost seven years and have just released their eponymous EP. Nikos Shannon's song writing highlights both modern and retro influences, ranging from 13th Floor Elevators through to Black Rebel Motorcycle Club. Complemented by the energetic, raw musical stylings of guitarist Louis King, drummer Zac Hutterer and man of the synth, Sam Watts, Phantom Agents create a unique and exciting modern rock sound. Having played so many iconic Melbourne venues over the years notably The Tote, The Espy, Federation Square and The East Brunswick Club, the group have gained a solid and steadily growing fan base, centered around Melbourne's northern suburbs. Phantom Agents take over Thursdays in February. Supports for their residency include Jackals, Galaxy Folk, The Philistines, The Call Up, Cam Lopez, Alexander Francis and more will be announced.

DJUMBA, MORTISVILLE, PAPA STYLEE
Friday Night at Bar Open, the Carnival! of global rhythms has come to town. 8 Foot Felix headline the night with a treasure chest of infectious ditties; blending blues-inspired sea shanties with gypsy polka and piratical funk. They are joined by their mates Djumba who wreak havoc with their brand of international boogaloo - the bastard child of subsonic beats, funk and world music. King of Electro Swing Mortisville will be spinning some devilish 1930's inspired mayhem. And the voodoo man himself, Papa Stylee will kick off the night with the best of Gypsy, Dub and Afrobeat bangers. So come down to the Carnival coz it's free. But bring your dancing feet.

RAZ BIN SAM & THE LION I BAND (ISRAEL/BYRON)
SISTA ITATIONS, JESSE I
Crowd pleasers Raz Bin Sam & The Lion I Band return to Bar Open to play not one but TWO shows IN A ROW, because we couldn't fit everyone in last time! Also a special one off performance from Mista Savona Soundsystem - Savona now calls Byron home so this is an extremely rare occasion to catch him in action. Sista Itations is also in the mix along with our rudest selecta Jesse I (Chantdown). Raz Bin Sam & The Lion I band are a 5-piece original reggae/dancehall outfit. The band uses a combination of roots, dancehall and Middle Eastern rhythms. The Lion I band members came together at a poetry night where front man Raz Bin Sam was sharing his poems about the Middle East conflict. Soon after they started converting these calls for peace and tolerance into high driven reggae and dancehall tunes, and The Lion I Band was established. The most recent addition to the band is Melbourne's favourite Mista Savona on keys. Known for their high energy, no holds barred bass lines and uplifting riddims, youre bound to find your groove! For two nights only Saturday 25th Feb / Sunday 26th Feb - come down and see why Raz is one of the most important reggae artists this country has. Its totally free to get in.
